Flash and AIR: e-Seminar Follow up

Thanks to everyone who attended the seminar. Hope it was informative.

For anyone who attended (or didn’t), here’s the source files and air app for AIR Max:

AirMAX.air.zip
AirMAXSource.zip

Remember, in order to publish to AIR you’ll need the AIR SDK and the airglobal.swc copied and renamed from the Flex Builder 3 beta. As soon as I have time I’ll post my notes on the step by step install for PC and Mac.

Instructions:
shift+click and drag to move.
[on mac, apple/on pc, ctrl]+click to kill a cat.

Any questions or comments are totally appreciated.

PS: What was the reaction to the app? I really wish I could’ve heard the response. Did everyone laugh or what?

  1. _isKillingCat is easily the greatest variable name ever used.

any idea how long it’ll take before the seminar is up at adobe.com/events to re-watch?

    Thanks again guys, great work!

  2. Is there any issues with getting the airglobal.swc file without Flex? I’m concerned with down the road once it is out of beta. Is that file attainable through the free Flex SDK?

  3. kramer: I’m not sure what comes package with the Flex SDK…but the airglobal.swc should just contain the Native AS3 + AIR packages. I highly recommend renaming the standard playerglobal.swc that comes with flash to something like playerglobal.bak.swc so you can cleanly revert back if you have issues.

Besides that, the airglobal.swc from any install of Flex anywhere is most likely the same… though I’m not 100% certain on that.

  4. I am fairly certain that the airglobal.swc is included in the Flex SDK.

  6. There will continue to be separate AIR .swc for Flash and Flex. There is only one airglobals.swc, regardless of where you get it from, and it indeed only contains info relevant to using AIR with AS3 (without Flex). The airframework.swc contains the AIR info specific to Flex.
